James Gandolfini's Son To Play A Young Tony Soprano

I realize I'm late to the party on this one BUT I just watched the Soprano's for the first time last year. I know...I know... BUT that being said of course I instantly became obsessed.

So when I heard the news that they were planning on making a prequel I got nervous. I mean playing a young Tony is no small task especially following James Gandolfini.

Fortunately the creators of the show found THE PERFECT fit, James's son Michael Gandolfini. The up in coming actor spoke with Deadline Tuesday saying, "It’s a profound honor to continue my dad’s legacy while stepping into the shoes of a young Tony Soprano. I’m thrilled that I’m going to have the opportunity to work with David Chase and the incredible company of talent he has assembled for ‘The Many Saints of Newark.’"

The rest of the cast includes several acting veterans such as Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal and Vera Farmiga.

The film is supposed to be set in the 1960's during the Newark riots with LOTS of mob drama so while I don't know when it's set to be released I will definitely keep you updated as I find out!
