New Nirvana Song Created by A.I

Over the Bridge is an organization who wants to "change the conversation about mental health and recovery in the music community while providing a compassionate environment in which members can thrive"

There are some alarming statistics in the music industry regarding mental health. 71% of musicians believe they've experienced incidence of anxiety and panic attacks. 68% of musicians have experienced incidences of depression. Also, suicide attempts for music industry workers are more than double that of the general population.

Over the bridge is trying to raise awareness on mental health, specifically in the music industry. Part of how they're doing that is through creating the "Lost Tapes of the 27 Club." In case you didn't know the "27 Club" refers to those musicians we lost, way too soon, at the age of 27. Part of their mission statement is "... Through this album, we’re encouraging more music industry insiders to get the mental health support they need, so they can continue making the music we all love for years to come. Because even AI will never replace the real thing." These "Lost Tapes" are not official songs of the artists but rather made with artificial intelligence, specifically Google's program called Magenta. The program's algorithm then listens to about 30 songs from the artist and isolates hooks, rhythms, melodies, and lyrics. It then uses what it's learned from the official songs to generate an artificial one.

So far they have generated songs for Nirvana (Kurt Cobain's 27th anniversary was Monday), Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Amy Winehouse. You can check out those tracks below and if you're wondering who's singing on the Nirvana song "Drowned in the Sun" it's Eric Hogan the lead singer of the Nirvana tribute band Nevermind. Eric says that the song's not perfect, but it definitely has the Nirvana vibe. I'm not 100% sure who they have singing on the other tracks.

Drowned in the Sun is the Nirvana song, You're Gonna Kill Me is the Jimi Hendrix song, The Roads Are Alive is the Jim Morrison/Doors song and Man, I know is the Amy Winehouse song.
