Netflix Paid $450 Million For Rights To "Knives Out" Movie Sequels!

Netflix apparently has some deep pockets, and when they want something they'll pay for it. The streaming service just bought the rights to a couple of sequels to a popular movie for a ridiculous amount of money.

The mystery/comedy movie "Knives Out" had an all-star cast including Chris Evans, Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Even Don Johnson was in it. It's a really good movie...but is it $450 million good? That does seem like a lot of dough to pay for two sequels. They'd better hope those sequels are good. Amazon Prime had exclusive rights to Eddie Murphy's "Coming 2 America" and I'm sorry to say it's terrible.

Well Netflix must feel the massive payout is a fair price to pay for the rights to “Knives Out 2” and “Knives Out 3.” I'm sure they're trying to compete with other new streaming services like Disney +, HBO Max and Apple TV Plus that are luring people in with exclusive movies and shows.

Despite the large, big name cast, the original "Knives Out" had a fairly small budget of $40 million, and went on to make $311.4 million at the box office. However, $450 is a lot of cash, in fact, its one of the biggest deals that's ever been struck for the rights to a movie franchise.
