Disney's latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie Dead Men Tell No Tales opens today. Just checked Rotten Tomatoes, those in favor of the movie, critics who liked it only number 31%.
One critic said, "Over the course of 14 years of playing this character, Depp has run out of new things to do with his performance, and is now pretty much emailing it in."
Although, not everyone hated it. Another critic wrote, We had zero hope for the fifth chapter in the waterlogged Pirates of The Caribbean franchise. And we were wrong. This thing is terrific." So decide for yourself.
Meanwhile, Disney chief Bob Iger confirmed that yes, they did receive a threat from hackers who claimed to have stolen a digital copy of the Pirates movie, but they think that was a hoax. He said “To our knowledge we were not hacked.” Iger added, “We don’t believe that it was real and nothing has happened.” The cybercriminals had demanded ransom, but Disney didn’t fall for the threat, and refused to pay up. Looks like it really was a hoax since there were no consequences.
