Learn Dothraki at Berkley

I’m not sure what the practical application would be for this, but now students at UC Berkley can learn the made up language Dothraki from the TV show Game of Thrones. For those who are not familiar with the show or the book series, The Dothraki a nomadic tribe of people who live in the plains of the fictional country of Essos. They are horse-mounted warriors ruled by the Horse Lord Khal Drogo. The fictional language Dothraki will be taught for during a six week Summer course by David J. Peterson. He’s the creator of that language and those used on other shows including Shannara Chronicles and The 100. The class is called “The Linguistics of ‘Game of Thrones’ and the Art of Language Invention.”  Not sure how you could use that knowledge in the real world, but still pretty cool.
