Yesterday, Rebel Wilson was awarded 4 times the highest amount ever awarded for a defamation suit, when she won her lawsuit against publisher Bauer Media and received $4.5 million in damages to her reputation. A series of articles printed in "Women's Day" dragged Rebel's name through the mud, saying she lied about her age to producers, among other lies.
The biggest thing? The court found out that Rebel was willing to settle for just $200,000, but decided to rule in favor of Rebel anyway and give her the record win. Rebel's plan with the money? Total awesomeness.
I’m looking forward to helping out some great Australian charities and supporting the Oz film industry with the damages I’ve received.— Rebel Wilson (@RebelWilson) September 13, 2017
