The Newport Folk Festival organizers announced back in April that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this years event would be cancelled. They've decided to create a virtual event this Summer! Instead of your usual trek down to Fort Adams State Park in Newport, you can watch the shows in your living room. The festivities kick off today at 11am, and continue through Sunday.
Tonight at 8:30 check out Mavis 80 featuring Mavis Staples, Brandi Carlile, Ben Harper, Grace Potter, and many others.
Streaming on Saturday at 8:30pm, Deer Tick & Friends, a benefit for Newport Festivals Foundation, and Sunday at 8:30, enjoy an original film by Josh Goleman called “Our Voices Together,” that features folk performers including James Taylor, Roger Waters and many others.
They're asking viewers to donate to the Newport Festivals Foundation.
