You Can Disinfect Your N95 Mask in Your Instant Pot!

People have been using their home appliances to disinfect items during the pandemic. We've learned you shouldn't microwave your library books because they can catch on fire. However, the Department of Homeland Security says you can clean your N95 in an Instant Pot! Or any pressure type cooker apparently. Don't believe me? Check out the DHS website...they shared this hack with a video. Click HERE to watch it.

Place the mask in a paper bag and staple it shut. Add some bottled or distilled water to the pot (2 1/8 cup for a 6 quart cooker, 3 cups for an 8 quart.) You want to make sure the paper bag doesn't touch the water, so place it on the trivet that came with the Instant Pot. You can use some binder clips to make little feet for the trivet to raise it up even more.

Set the cooker's temperature to 149, or use the "sous vide" feature, and cook for 30 minutes. Remove from the cooker, and thoroughly dry your mask before you wear it. You can use this method 5 times before you need to throw the mask away.
