Tips to Soothe Your Dog Scared By Fireworks

Well there aren't really any professional fireworks displays this year, but a lot of people seem to have bought their own and are lighting them off in neighborhoods every night. Luckily my dog isn't afraid of fireworks, but I used to have a dog that was terrified of them, so if you have a dog that's afraid here are some tips you can use to soothe them.

The American Kennel Club says you can play white noise or maybe a fan or air conditioner during the fireworks so they will be less able to hear them, and create a safe space for them away from windows so they can lie down and relax. They also recommend taking your dog out for a long walk during the day to hopefully tire them out so they sleep through the fireworks at night. And most importantly, be sure to have the correct contact information on your dog's collar, because dogs tend to get scared and run away on July 4th more than any on any other day of the year!
