Disney World to Change Splash Mountain to "Princess and the Frog" Ride!

Since the beginning, the Splash Mountain flume ride at Walt Disney World in Orlando has had a "Song of the South" theme. The movie from 1946 has been long criticized as being racist, and after recent national anti-racism protests following the police brutality death of George Floyd, many have called on Disney to retheme the attraction. Fans have suggested the ride get a new "Princess and the Frog" theme based on the movie starring Disney's first black princess, Tiana. Well Disney listened, and just announce that they are go ahead with that idea! The press release reads, "The new concept is inclusive -- one that all of our guests can connect with and be inspired by, and it speaks to the diversity of the millions of people who visit our parks each year." It' will, "join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure -- featuring some of the powerful music from the film -- as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance." No word on when the change will begin, but can't wait to see it!
