Mom Takes Fertility Drug To Avoid Twins When 5 Babies Appear In Womb

Courtney and Eric Waldrop always knew they wanted a big family, but life was about to throw some major curveballs their way.

The couple from Alabama welcomed their first son Saylor in 2008, only to suffer a string of devastating miscarriages.

Courtney’s doctor placed her on fertility treatments, which led to their conception of twin boys.

The first-grade teacher was ready for more children after a few years.

After their fourth miscarriage, Courtney was placed on a low dosage of fertility treatment intended to minimize the chances of Courtney carrying multiple fetuses. (Since multiples come with greater risks, doctors didn’t want to take the chance.)

Then came the confusing and stunning prenatal ultrasound that sent shockwaves through the Waldrop family…

After 10 years of wedded bliss and three adorable boys, Courtney was ready for more children.

But after her fourth miscarriage, Courtney’s doctor put her on lower dose of fertility treatment to lower the chances of multiple fetuses.

“It was devastating because I can get pregnant so easily, I just can’t hold on to them,” Courtney told PEOPLE.
